Culture at a Crossroads
The beginning of the twenty-first century has revealed tectonic shifts in Western culture. The marginalization of Christianity in the public square, the growth of religious pluralism, and the pervasive effects of individualism, narcissism, and consumerism have left many churches, pastors and faithful Christians uncertain about their place and purpose in this emerging post-Christendom culture. We believe this ministry has been raised up to confront these conditions within the Body of Christ that have
contributed to these detrimental “shifts.”
Failure of 20th Century Methods
The 20th century methods of reform and cultural engagement have simply failed. Mounting evidence shows that religious, social and cultural movements of the future will be small, streamlined and focused on shifting individual choices by introducing and encouraging the adoption of new ideas and new ways of thinking. For the Center for Christ & Culture that means recovering historic Christian truths in a postmodern context—it means pressing “good” ideas over and against “bad” ideas beginning with the Church and how it understands and executes its mission in the world. The Protestant Reformation began in the same way.
Ministry on an Amazing Scale
  God
continues to graciously expand the ministry influence of the Center for Christ
and Culture beyond anything we could have imagined. My weekly commentaries
reach more than 3.5 million readers, more than 13,000 people have taken our
Cultural Apologetics Course online, and I'm speaking coast-to-coast and making
many national media appearances.
In
2009, Navpress, plans to release my forthcoming book entitled Uncompromised Faith: Overcoming Our
Culturalized Christianity along with curriculum, study guides, and leader’s
manuals.
In all, the
Lord is using the research, writing and teaching of this ministry to touch
lives throughout the U.S. and beyond.
No Quick Fix
We
know that cultural change is both complex and long-term. There are no simple solutions to the many
challenges the Church faces in our postmodern, post-Christian culture.
That is why the Center for Christ & Culture
is so critically needed in our society today. We must counter bad ideas with good ideas -- biblical thinking that empowers individual choices --
resulting in personal renewal that will spark social transformation.
